Smith-Barnes Elementary Celebrates a Historic Undefeated Flag Football Season!

Smith-Barnes Elementary School is proud to celebrate an incredible milestone — our flag football team’s undefeated season! This achievement marks a historic moment as the first-ever elementary school flag football team to complete a perfect season — and the first team to compete at the elementary level.

At the start of the season, the players had a lot to learn, but through dedication, teamwork, and persistence, they quickly mastered the plays and grew stronger together. The primary goal was to teach discipline and teamwork — lessons that extended beyond the field and into the classroom. Under the guidance of Coach Hamilton and Coach Lewis, players developed focus, character, and confidence, showing remarkable growth both on and off the field.

Their hard work and determination paid off, leading Smith-Barnes Elementary to its first-ever Flag Football Championship! Despite losing a few teammates early in the season, the team captains stepped up as leaders, keeping everyone motivated and united. Their leadership, decision-making, and sportsmanship were key to the team’s success.

Coach Lewis summed up the season perfectly, saying, “If I had to sum up this season in one phrase, it would be ‘control the controllable.’”

To honor this outstanding accomplishment, the school celebrated the team during a special morning announcement and a spirited Friday pep rally. The team received a first-place trophy and a standing ovation from proud families, friends, and classmates.
